One of the highlights of our year in 2016 was the remarkable achievement by James McInerney in becoming the first Newmarket-on-Fergus man ever and the first Clare person since Davy Fitzgerald (2002) to win the Poc Fada.
Today James goes in defence of this national title and we’re fully behind him in his attempts to do so. A local delegation of supporters and advisers will be alongside James as he treks the Annaverna Mountain.
Over the past few days, James has been putting the final touches on his preparations by doing long distance striking at Fr Murphy Memorial Park. On Thursday he was going through his regular routine when some representatives of our U12 & U16 panels began studying his technique and tried to emulate him. James Mc is a brilliant role model for individuals in our club and we hope he is rewarded for his efforts in Louth today.
With every strike James will put his body behind the sliotar and with every strike he will have the backing of everyone in our club!
