Playing with the wind in the 1st half the Blues of Newmarket needed to get a good start and with 2 points from play from the inform Shane Liddy it settled the team.
Kilmaley got one back from O’Rourke. Newmarket had a good percentage of the play in the next 1/4 but the shooting let them down with a few wides. Up steps Martin Frawley in the 12th minute to score from play following a few more wides, Liam Clancy opens his account with a fine point. 2 minutes later Malachy Noonan raises a green flag
with a long range shot misjudged by the keeper to bring Newmarket into a 1-05 to 0-1 on the 17th minute. Pauric McMahon was working hard all over the field and came out of a ruck with the sliotar and slotted it over for a fine point. Liam Clancy closes our scoring with a free which in general were hard come by won by Duggan, closing the 1st half with a 1-08 to 0-04 score.
Kilmaley opened the 2nd half with 2 frees with Carmody slotting any chances he got. Mal opens out account with a point from play from a tight angle followed up by a fine point of his own from Shane Liddy. On a very wet evening the rain eventually stopped Clancy took his chance to slot over another free then Kilmaley get 3 on the trot allfrom
Carmody. There was no stopping Shane Liddy tonight, another point from play and then he rattled the net 2-12 to 0-10. The last score comes from Play from the stick of Harkin.
Overall a good performance considering the weather conditions. Smiley could be heard inspiring all the players from full back (even the Kilmaley lads), Pauric McMahon, Liam Clancy, Shane Liddy with 1-04 also did really well.
Special Mention to Pauric McMahon, the clubs very hardworking PRO who turned 21 this week, Happy Birthday from all at Cora Chaitlín Paudie.
