FORMER ALL-STAR Colm Galvin is due to talk to Clare joint managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor to discuss his future with the Banner County.
The 24-year old was not included in the squad for the opening league games against Cork and Kilkenny but played a star role as Mary Immaculate College retained their Fitzgibbon Cup title at the weekend.
The Clonlara clubman was outstanding throughout the campaign as Mary I backed up last year’s maiden success by retaining their crown with a 3-24 to 1-19 win over DJ Carey’s IT Carlow at the weekend.
And Galvin, an All-Star midfielder when helping Clare to the All-Ireland title in 2013, said that delivering silverware for manager Jamie Wall was the driving force behind Mary I retaining their Fitzgibbon Cup crown.
Wall, a former Cork underage hurler and footballer who played for Mary I, has been confined to a wheelchair since an illness impacted on his spine in 2014, and Galvin said they were determined to land the title for him.

“He’s a very strong willed man, a wonderful guy and it’s because he’s been with us for so long we wanted to do it for him.
“It’s wonderful to be able to give him a lift on the sideline. He’d hate for anyone to have sympathy on him but it makes it a bit more special.
“Two Fitzgibbon finals that I never thought I would have them coming into Mary I,” he added.
Galvin said even with Fitzgibbon over, hurling and studies will dominate the next few months.
“I’ll talk to Donal and Gerry and see what the story is. I don’t really know what the story is myself so. I’m just going to take this in and also get to work on getting my assignments done,” added Galvin.
Clare, who lost to Cork on the opening weekend and then inflicted the biggest competitive defeat on Kilkenny since Brian Cody took charge, travel to play All-Ireland champions Tipperary on Sunday in Thurles.
