John Guilfoyle was ratified as manager of the Intermediate Hurlers at this month’s meeting of the Club Executive.
We would like to wish John the best of luck in his role and we’re very pleased to appoint him. It is the first time the former Club Chairman will manage an adult team in our club, he had successful stints in charge of various underage teams where he oversaw their development at critical ages and the stamps of his coaching skills are evident on some of our top players currently making the breakthrough to adult teams.
His management team will be announced in the coming months. In 2015 our Intermediates reached the quarter-finals of the Clare IHC but last year we suffered relegation from Division 2 of the League and lost all championship games. We are confident John will be the man to get our second team back on track this season.
Guilfoyle’s men face the challenge of Smith O’Briens in the opening round with the pairing confirmed at the recent draw for the 2017 Clare IHC.
