Senior over 1st hurdle towards race for Canon.

Round 1 Senior Hurling Championshiop 2017
Venue Cusack Park 13th May

Referee: Rory Hickey
Following a nervy start, the seniors overcame Clooney Quin in Cusack Park on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-13, to come from being down 5 points to come back and win by 3 showed great character and determination from the team.
After 9 minutes Clooney lead 1-03 to 0-01 with Colin Ryan taking the blues only score from a place ball in that spell, Clooney Quin goal coming from Cillian Duggan with the set up coming from Peter Duggan who was Clooney Quin’s top scorer (0-09,0-06from frees).

At half time Clooney Quin lead by a single point, 1-06 to 0-08 but the Blues emerged from the dressing room first for the 2nd half and looked determined to change this stat.

3 points and a goal  from Newmarket unanswered by Clooney Quin changed the scoreboard in our favour, the goal really showed  great support work from the forwards with a pass from Stephen Kelly to Eoin Hayes who laid it off to Colin Ryan who made no mistake to rattle Hogans net, getting the Blues who travelled come into voice with a loud cheer appreciating the great team work.
Clooney Quin never gave up and the game which could have gone either way until the final whistle went, knew they needed a goal but they could not shake the solid Blues Defence.

A good result overall, Bob and the backroom team will be happy to have the 1st hurdle overcome and await round 2…..
