Inters Bow out at quarter final stage

Newmarket on Fergus V Parteen

Intermediate Quarter final

Venue Wolfe Tones na Sionna

John Guilfoyle’s team went to Shannon to face Parteen. Playing with a strong wind in the first half the team got ahead and kept the scores ticking over, Going in at half time 0-09 to 0-04 ahead. Points from James Freeman, Liam Clancy 5 frees 1 from play, David McNamara and Neil Ryan with the point of the half.

The 2nd half with tough conditions along with the wind, the rain started to pour and Parteen outscored us 11 points to 3 (all our 2nd half scores coming from place balls, 2 frees and 1 65) in this half with Parteen taking the last 6 scores to go ahead and advance to the last four by 3 points, 0-15 to 0-12.

We had chances to take goals but never got past the solid full back line, both full back lines clearing their lines on many occasions.  The team showed improvements throughout the campaign and on another day could have easily taken the next step to the semi final. Well done lads on a great campaign.
