Kilmartin Ready To Kick On As Camogie Chair

Saturday evening saw a reasonably strong attendance gather in the Clubhouse for the Annual General Meeting of the Newmarket-on-Fergus Camogie Club.

Aileen Kilmartin succeeds Marie-Louise Kaiser as Chaiperson of the Camogie Club. In the role of Runaí, Pauline O’Flanagan takes over from Elaine Lally. The only other change to the Camogie Executive sees Marie-Louise appointed as Development Officer where she will be assisted by Aimee McInerney.

Speaking after being elected, Kilmartin praised her predecessor for her work and for her encouragement to take on the job, insisting that she will take Kaiser up on the offer of being on the end of the phone. She thanked all officers and outlined that they can “work collectively together to get desired goals”. On Sunday November 26th, Aileen will go forward for ratification to also be part of the Executive of CLG Cora Chaitlín.

In our August 2015 edition of Blues News, senior camogie defender Aoife Griffin revealed her favourite nickname in the club was that of ‘Killa’, an interpretation her German friend had of the Giolla’s nickname. Here’s hoping she kills the role of Chairperson!

Keep your eyes peeled to www.nofgaa.com over the coming days for more updates from the Camogie AGM.
