Slipping and Sliding

31.3.18. Buckets of rain saw many fixtures cancelled around the county. For those that went ahead, you’d want to be wearing the right studs!

U12 Hurlers

Our U12s played a challenge match V Crusheen/Tubber last Tuesday and played some great stuff. It was an 11-a-side match and we had 21 players. There were 4 periods of 15 minutes played so that all got a good amount of game time.

Newmarket; Brian Jones, Andrew Costello, Jonah Liddy, Sean Arthur, Shaun Kenny, Sean Gough, Conan O’Neill, Sean McInerney, Ryan Rooney, John Hogan, Mikey Power, Zach Treacy, Cillian Galvin, Matt Jones, Liam Byrne, Alex Hayes, Bernard Conroy, Lee Freeman, Dan Meehan, Patrick Hannon, Aaron, Luke Hayes, John McMahon

U14 Hurlers

Feile V Corofin and Scariff/Ogonnelloe.  Missing three of their older players (but with the welcome return to action of Daniel McDarby) it was an extremely young Newmarket side which competed in this feile group stage. Though defeated in both matches, they put in a battling performance right until the final whistle.

Newmarket: Danny Meehan; Jack Jennings, Robert Hanton, Cathal Crimmins; Cathal Cullinane, Aaron Moroney, Shane Reale; Lee Cregan, Darragh Jones; Seamus Quinn, Daniel McDarby, John Lynch; Michael Power, Mark Kelly, Sean Arthur. Substitutes: Conor Crowe, Daire Meehan, Michael Caldwell, John Hogan

U16 Hurlers

Eire Og 3:14 Newmarket 2:9.   The Under 16s had their first challenge match of the season and there were lots of positional switches throughout the game, (as evidence, our starting goalkeeper ended the match as top scorer!) As usual with this bunch of lads, work rate was excellent but there is plenty to finetune over the coming months.

Newmarket: Peter Power; David Morrissey, JJ Hanton, Dylan Crowe; Sol Frost, Feidhlim Barry, Oisin McInerney (Ballycar); Mark Delaney, Darragh Whelan; Seadhna Liddy, Conor Freeman, Oisin McInerney (Clonmoney); Conor Meehan, Jamie Power, Lochlan Gregson. Substitutes (all at half time) Harry Frost, Luke Mann, Philip Connellan, Michael Costello

Scorers: P. Power (2:4). J. Power (0.2) S. Frost (0.1), Liddy (0.1) Whelan (0.1)

Senior Hurlers (Clare Cup)

Newmarket 1:6 Cratloe 1:13.   Down a few regulars and playing on a wet and heavy pitch, Newmarket were defeated by a near full strength Cratloe. Best for the visitors were Conor McGrath and Shane O’Leary.

Newmarket: Ronan McCormack; Shane Kelleher, Liam O’Connor, Jordan Collins; Shane O’Brien Jr, Evan Keogh, Noel Frawley; Sean O’Connor, Ronan Goode; Colin Guilfoyle, Paudie McMahon, James Freeman; James Liddy, Jack O’Connor, Cathal Noonan   Subs: Darragh Burke, James McMahon and Pa Duggan
