Fourteens Defeated In Championship Opener

Hard luck to our U14 Hurlers who were defeated in the opening round of the B Championship on Monday evening.

Éire Óg 5-06
Newmarket-on-Fergus 2-02
Venue: Éire Óg Inis GAA

A battling display from our U14s was not enough to get off to a winning start in the 2017 championship with Éire Óg making use of home advantage by collecting their first two points of the campaign.

Both of Newmarket’s goals came from long range efforts with Seadhna Liddy and Jamie Power hitting the net. Their remaining scores came via a Conor Meehan free and a Ronan Tierney white flag.

Goalscorers Liddy and Power were most impressive for the Blues along with Sol Frost and Dylan Crowe. They were without Brian Molloy and Daniel McDarby for the clash and will hope the Clonmoney duo will make an impact in their next outing on Friday when they host Crusheen/Tubber.

NOF: Adam Enright; Jack Moloney, Dylan Crowe, Brian Morrissey; Seadna Liddy, Sol Frost, Michael Costello; Jamie Power, Mark Delaney; Seamus Quinn, Ronan Tierney, Conor Meehan; Sean Duggan, Aaron Moroney, Eamonn Cavanagh. Subs: Mark Molloy for Moloney, Shane Quinn for Duggan, Conor Crowe for Moroney, Hugh O’Grady for Cavanagh
