Tones Teach U14s A Lesson

Wolfe Tones 2-05
Newmarket-on-Fergus 1-03
Venue: Fr Murphy Memorial Park

This is definitely a contest, Newmarket-on-Fergus will learn from as they paid the price for failing to see out the game and in doing so suffered their third defeat to drop into the bottom half of the U14 Championship table while Wolfe Tones rise to second place.

It was very much a game of two halves, Newmarket failed to fully reflect their first half dominance on the scoreboard when they kept Wolfe Tones scoreless.

Aided by a stiff breeze the Shannon boys overturned the halftime lead as the Blues’ scoring threat faded.

In many ways, this was an improved performance on Newmarket’s previous outing but they find will have to raise things another notch in the games to come.
