Spring New Life Into Your Old Helmet

No helmet no hurling, that’s one of the signs that grace the walls in Fr Murphy Memorial Park.

We’ve had many memorable helmets in the history of CLG Cora Chaitlín, some that spring to mind – Eoin Cleary’s flower pot, Marty Meehan sported a cooper with a face guard that went out and down but failed to tuck under his chin, Malachy Noonan once had a helmet that also doubled up as a saucepan for boiling spuds, then you have the unwritten rule in Clenagh that none of the Frawley clan can stray away from a white helmet, on the camogie side Breda O’Looney was well known for her dark green bubble on the edge of the square and like many players of old Kevin Halpin didn’t want his vision impaired as he chose a helmet minus the faceguard. We could go on!

With a new generation of boys and girls beginning what will hopefully be a long and fruitful careers with our club, we’re on the lookout for helmets for our young blues who do not possess one.

If you have a helmet no longer is use, we will be able to get some more years out of it. Contact Tomás Ryan (0863882966) if you’re able to give the next generation a small boost.
