Blues Links To Nationwide This Week

In the run-up to Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC Final, there has been a strong emphasis on GAA on RTÉ show Nationwide which has been running since 1993.

On Wednesday, a report featured on ‘Hurling For Cancer’, our own Ger Hannon got some game-time on this occasion but his exploits didn’t make the cut for the show! Those disappointed with this will be able to see him in action for our Junior B’s on September 10th in Bodyke  Another Blue Brian Enright made the journey to Wexford to support the game but we’re informed he was quite camera shy.

Following on from that, there was a segment on Stonehall N.S. Principal Diarmaid McMahon’s road to recovery after a serious head injury earlier this year. Diarmaid’s story was an educational one for all as it showcased the importance of treating similar injuries. Throughout his time in Stonehall, McMahon has been an excellent promoter of gaelic games and all in the club appreciate and acknowledge his input. We are delighted to see him making such progress and wish him & his family every ounce of good luck with his continued recovery.

This evening’s show at 7pm documents the recent Poc Fada championship as our James McInerney sought to defend his title. Unfortunately James came up short in his bid but becoming the first person from Newmarket-on-Fergus and only the second in Clare to win the national accolade is something to be treasured. There was a strong Blues delegation in the Cooley’s on that occasion so expect to see Christy Ryan at some stage while members of the McInerney or Ryan clan could make an appearance along with Carol O’Leary.
