Newmarket U14 hurlers welcomed Scariff/Ogonnelloe for the U14 championship on Monday evening. The wind was strong towards the town end. NOF played with that slight advantage in the first half and were unlucky not to score in the opening minute. The visitors went into a 3 point lead before our lads started to click and scored 1-3 before half time. Scariff/Ogonnelloe hit the net on whistle with a lucky goal and led at the interval 1:5 to 1:3.
The second half saw NOF exert dominance all over the field. They were rewarded with a goal and went into the lead by 1 point. So it remained until the 41st minute when one of our guys received a red card. Reduced to 14 for the remainder the boys battled hard until the end but gradually Scariff notched up a winning tally. The match finished on a score of 2-4 to 5-7 but our team management were extremely pleased with the performance of what is easily the youngest side in the Division. All the players gave everything and were disappointed at the end but there were many displays of grit and ability all over the field.
