Silverware For Seniors

Well done to our Senior Hurlers who won the Carew Cup for the first time in our history.

On Saturday, we participated in an excellent tournament organised by Thurles Sarsfields.

Newmarket were due to play three group games but this was reduced to two as sensing the Blues were out for redemption following the 2012 Munster Club meeting De La Salle pulled out of the tournament!

The day got off to a good start with a win recorded over Glynn-Barntown of Wexford. A tight first half followed in the subsequent match versus Na Piarsaigh but the Limerick club showed signs of freshness as they pulled away in the second half.

A second place group standing put Bob Enright’s men into the Carew Cup Final in what was a repeat pairing of the Final last year. Thankfully the result was overturned and the senior hurlers became the first adult team in the club to capture silverware in 2017.

Quick shoutout to Enda Barrett who made a fine contribution in the first two games which took place on the same day as his Stag and to Jackson O’Hanlon who brought some good luck to the boys!!

Well done to all involved.
